The Jakarta Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and Small and Medium Enterprises Agency (PPKUKM) together with the Association of Indonesian Retailers and Shopping Center Tenants (HIPPINDO) is about to hold the Jakarta International Investment, Trade, Tourism & SME Expo (JITEX) 2024, from August 7 to 11, 2024.

It is slated to be located at Cendrawasih Hall and Lower Lobby, Jakarta Convention Center, Jalan Gatot Subroto, Gelora Urban Village, Tanah Abang, Central Jakarta from 10 AM to 8 PM.

Jakarta PPKUKM Agency Head, Elisabeth Ratu Rante Allo said Jakarta has complete and large economic potential. This potential could encourage national economic growth and needed to be encouraged as a main destination for business and tourism at the global level.

"By the president's direction, we must develop IKN with the presence of Jakarta. So, Jakarta's advantages must be able to support IKN development," she stated, Thursday (7/18).

She explained there would be 200 free booths for investors and buyers who want to develop Jakarta. Various products would be exhibited from various fields such as food and beverage, agriculture, manufacturing, services, home living, fashion, automotive, and various multi-product businesses.

Including various agendas such as business matching, signing business contracts, panel discussions, and talk shows, as well as gala dinner for buyers and investors with the Jakarta Acting Governor at City Hall. Then also Jakarta tourism activities for buyers and investors, JITEX mega sale, fashion shows, entertainment, children's activities, and food truck festivals.

"This aims to market various domestic products by targeting buyers and investors from the ASEAN region," she explained.

To attract interest, her party had prepared accommodation packages for investors and buyers from abroad who attend the activity in the form of a free two-night hotel stay, a tourist pass, and telecommunications access with a prepared SIM card.

Not only does it encourage economic growth through various products and services, she admitted, the Jakarta Provincial Government currently has many assets spread across multiple locations to be developed. Hopefully, the development of this asset would involve various stakeholders invited from within and outside the country.

"With Jakarta's position as a global city, we continue to accelerate the integration of the national economy into primary nodes in the world economic network," she asserted.

The event above received appreciation from Economy and Finance Assistant, Sri Haryati. Despite it is no longer the capital, Jakarta still has an important role in the national economy.

"Jakarta contributes 16-17 percent of the national economy and has an economic growth rate of around 4.7 percent. Our latest inflation in June was only around 2.7 percent," she explained.

According to the President's direction, Jakarta must become an economic center on a regional and global scale. The Acting Governor had also responded by ordering his staff to make Jakarta a competitive global city.

To boost Jakarta's ranking in the global city index to 74th out of 156th, she admitted she had collaborated with the AT Kearney Global Cities Index as an institution that releases research results to identify areas that need improvement.

From the results of this research, the economic aspect was found to be an important factor. Generally, he described Jakarta's economic structure as gaining the most from the trade sector.

According to her, Jakarta's investment value from the trading sector currently only recorded an investment value of around 30 percent. This international event will have a good impact on the economy.

Aside that, future economic development must also strengthen aspects of tourism and the creative economy. Then, based on a study conducted by his party, moving the capital would have no impact if Jakarta's economic development strategy went well.

"If our strategy works well, economic growth can reach 6-7 percent. Based on experience from Covid-19, the scheme will be optimal if we all work together," he stated.
